An Incredible Weekend for Hospital for Hope
Date Posted: Jun 22 2015

Saturday night saw the 31st Lobster Feed & Charity Auction in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The sell-out event was co-hosted by the Lake Oswego Rotary Foundation and the Lakewood Center for the Arts, and it was a massive success!

Over 600 people attended the event which consisted of a lobster dinner followed by an auction under the ‘Big Top’ at the Lakewood Center. Funds were raised through ticket sales and auctioning of donated items, Hospital for Hope was honored to be one of the beneficiaries of the event.

It has been confirmed that Hospital for Hope will receive over $70,000 as a result of this fundraiser!

This is an absolutely incredible amount and it means so much to all of the Hospital for Hope team. After raising the funds to build the hospital, it opened almost two years ago in July 2013. But for us that was just the first step and we continue to raise funds so that the hospital services can continually improve and develop.

The funds raised here allow us to take a second step on the journey of the Hospital for Hope. Our next projects include installing solar panels so that the hospital has power 24/7, to provide fridges so that medications such as snake bite anti-venom can be stored effectively, and so much more! With the funds so generously raised for the hospital on Saturday night, these next projects can become a reality.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to the co-hosts – Lake Oswego Rotary Foundation and the Lakewood Centre for the Arts – for choosing the Hospital for Hope as a beneficiary and for organizing such an incredible event. We’d also like to thank each and every person that bought a ticket and went along on Saturday night – the money you raised really will improve the lives of the 100,000 people that Hospital for Hope serves.

Finally, we’d like to give a special mention to Martha and Mert – who you can see in the photo on the left, below. Martha and Mert have been a massive part of Hospital for Hope from the very beginning. Mert was the architect for the hospital and together they’ve visited the area on three separate occasions, spending almost a year there helping to build the hospital. They are a very special part of the Hospital for Hope story. So we want to thank them for all of their help with Saturday night’s event but we also want to take the opportunity to thank them for all the amazing things they’ve done for the hospital over the last few years.

Hospital for Hope only works because people are willing to get involved and do what they can to help. The thing is, by its very nature, there’s always something that can be done. If you’d like to get involved with Hospital for Hope, we’d love to hear from you – you can find us on Facebook, on Twitter or contact us here.

Thanks once again to all involved in Saturday’s Lobster Feed and Charity Auction – your generosity means a great deal to us, to the hospital and to the people of Jharkhand in rural India.
